email template tokens
February 07, 2008, 02:23:43 pm
I have created a template and inserted tokens such as {contact.first_name} and it is not working.  I am seeing the tags come through in the email and nothing is merged.

I am using CiviCRM 1.9.13019 for Joomla.

Am I doing something wrong?  From what I understand the tags are just entered into the email or the template, correct?

Thanks in advance.

Nevermind  :o

It helps if I read more closely.

Starting with 2.0 you will also be able to use them for the core Send Email to Contact(s) feature (accessed from the contact summary screens and search results) AND in Mailing Labels.

Although the note in the template admin screen that reads:

NOTE: This template feature is not yet integrated with the CiviMail component. CiviMail message templates must be saved as local text files and uploaded.

Probably should indicate the feature is not yet implemented for sending from the contacts screen.

Well, I was planning on configuring CiviMail anyway, so I guess I will do it a bit sooner than planned.
