installation of civicrm 4.0.8 on joomla 1.7.3
January 06, 2012, 02:21:40 pm
After some test on a notebook with the copy of my website running on Xampp, I try a clean installation on an the real web site. I followed the instruction either with the zipped package with no result or using the alt package.

the result was: Gateway time out

In checking the Mysql database I found the civicrm tables as MyISAM type.
There is an entry COM_CIVICRM_MENU inside the joomla_menu table but no entry into the joomla_extension table
I attach the phpinfo file, the main info are:

PHP Version 5.3.8
MySQL:    5.1.56

the log errors of the installation process are:
Ultime linee di log contenenti errori.

[Fri Jan 06 22:24:07 2012] [error] [client 151.40.217.225] PHP Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 41 bytes) in /web/htdocs/www.goticatoscana.eu/home/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/packages/PEAR.php on line 884

Your error says

Code: [Select]
Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted
Please note here http://civicrm.org/aboutcivicrm that

Quote
128mb PHP memory limit recommended

Whereas you have 128--you apparently have 134, it could well be that due to other aspects of your site and/or server configuration, you will need to more RAM to install and possibly, to run CiviCRM.

I had a similar issue, so just uncompressed the ZIP file (which only added a couple of meg to the file size)

Upload it to your 'tmp' directory

Then use the Install from directory option to your folder name - in my case "com_civicrm"

All installed fine  :)

Hope that helps?

I found the problem. It is mainly caused by the server's setting. My actual provider do not give us the necessary memory resources either for the Mysql server or the web server. Actually our implementation is running on a dedicated server not accessible from the web (local intranet). We are looking for a new provider.
