"https" not showing on contribute page

I have installed SSL certificate on my site and have checked on the force secure URL settings on my site. However some of the contribute pages with card payment details still show "http" url instead of "https". Also, if I change the url from "https" to "http", the contribute page still shows "http" and does not redirect to "htpps" url.


However when I submit credit card details and submit the form, it does show an "https" url afterwards.

Would really appreciate your help. Have CiviCRM 4 running on Joomla 1.7

Hi Niraj. On which browser did you see this behavior?

I also looked this site (CiviCRM 4.0.8 by the way) and I didn't see that. I did see that there is a page with a form--submitting the form takes one to a CiviContribute page--sometimes it was secure and sometimes not. I can't see why it shouldn't always be secure.

It shows across browsers.Firefox 9, Chrome 16.0.912.75 m and IE9.

I think I figured out the reason. I had enabled the plugin System Cache. The plugin was also responsible for lot of weird behavior on the site. After disabling it, now all the contribution page URLs are redirected to secure connection.

Now I don't know if it's a Joomla or CiviCRM bug or if it is not a bug at all.

Niraj,

We're having the same issue running Drupal. Do you think disabling the plugin System Cache would work for us? How did you do it?

swec, the System Cache plugin is only for Joomla, it's irrelevant for you site.

Do you have CiviCRM configured to force secure URLs?

Navigate to Administer CiviCRM » Global Settings » Resource URLs; Set Force Secure URLs (SSL) to YES

Thanks. When I tried to configure CiviCRM to force secure URLs, I received a message that I needed to first set up a secure server. However, we have a current SSL certificate installed on our server, so our server is secure.

Ideas?

Check that the SSL covers the domain with and without www. Sometimes it doesn't include www and you are on www.

If it does, however, then ask your host if there is a problem.

Thanks, I will check.

I discovered yesterday that if I create an event page with payment option, the new page is not secure, but if I create a new contribution page for the event, it is secure. For the time being, we'll just stick to using contribution pages for anything involving payments.
