Searching by activity subject and multiple types
February 07, 2008, 02:52:59 pm
Hello.  I think it would be great to allow someone to search by an activity's subject and to also search multiple activities at once.  A real world use: if I'm a grassroots organization and want to get a bunch of people out to a press conference, I want to search by people who would likely come based on activities they've already done.  So I would want to search by activity type "press conference" and "hearing" for example (two activities where people would  likely go to a press conference again).  Instead I have to run two separate queries.

I would presumable do this in search builder but you can't search by activity type in search builder.  Any suggestions or possibility to include this in future versions?

Thanks

Some improvements for Activity search are posted in this 2.1 issue: http://issues.civicrm.org/jira/browse/CRM-2532. You could add your thoughts about what else would be useful there - and perhaps contribute a patch for that issue during the 2.1 cycle :-)

Alternatively, the new (2.0) custom search framework might be a good way to create a "dedicated" Activity search. If you're interested in working on that and need more info - let me know.
