Running CiviCRM 4.0.6 on Drupal 7. I'm using CiviEvent for a conference registration, and am running into an issue.

I have as client who is adding participants to the event via the admin interface, and marking them as "Pending from Pay Later". But in the email that the participant receives, there is no mention of their status.

In the message templates, I have tried several things with the "Events - Registration Confirmation and Receipt (off-line)" message template.

The variable $is_pay_later doesn't seem to work in this case. Is there another variable that should be used? I noticed that there are variables here for $event.participant_role, so I tried using $event.participant_status but that didn't work. When I did a print_r of the $event variable (neat trick: {$event|@print_r will print the contents of the event variable), I don't see any details about the participant status.

Any help is much appreciated. I'm open to doing this slightly differently. I thought of maybe using the Waitlist and RequireApproval, but they have other repercussions on the site that I'd rather not mess with.
