Updating company website addresses with hyphens
January 15, 2012, 10:19:41 am
This must be something to do with my setup.

On my test server (windows, Apache, Joomla) when I add or update the website address of an organisation it can have a hyphen in. When I do the same on my live server (Linux, Apache, Joomla) I can't I get an error message saying

Enter a valid web location beginning with 'http://' or 'https://'. EXAMPLE: http://www.mysite.org/

any ideas anyone please?

TIA

Yes, it was a bug in your version of php.

Update php to the latest version and it will work.

just found this out elsewhere - bummer, not impressed with the hosting company installing a bugged version of PHP. Funny though, on my Windows test ebvironment, I've got an older version of PHP and that works
