Dear all,

At first, happy new year from France to all of you and all the best for 2012.

I have few questions to better understand the way CiviCRM handle the membership status and also the contribution status (the contribution linked to the membership).

In my organisation, membership are from the 1st of january to the end of december. So I created (by script), new membership, copying the existing 2011 membership and create automatically the 2012 membership (with a new linked contribution).

• The 2011 membership are "current" with contribution "completed"
• The new membership are "pending" and the new contribution are "pending"

My questions are :

• 1st question : will the 2011 automatically move from CURRENT to EXPIRED at the beginning of january (according to what is describe here : http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC33/Membership+Status+Rules ) or do I need to run a specific script ?
• 2nd question : why the new membership doesn't move to "CURRENT" when the team define the linked contribution from PENDING to COMPLETED ? is there a setting to define? a cron script ?
