Searching by location type with the Search Builder

It appear that the search building ignores the location type. For instance, if one searches for:  Billing > Email > IS NOT NULL  the results are just for all emails. Or if one searches for  Other > Phone > IS NOT NULL the results are for all phone numbers.

I was able to reproduce this on the test site. Is this a known bug? And, if so, is there any other way to search for location types?

If you build a Profile-driven search/listings form, with Billing Email as a Searchable field - I think you can think find all (or specific) billing emails. See the profiles and directories section here:

That is not a the most convenient way because the listing is not editable (there are now hyper links for those contacts displayed).

Is the search builder not an option?

Search builder is not being actively maintained by the core team. If you have developer resources to fix this issue - you can submit a patch.

You can include Edit links in the profile listing results. Check Advanced Settings : Include profile edit links in search results?
