double opt in subscription

Is there a way of setting up a double opt in subscribe to newsletter facility.

basically we want to capture a prospect's name & email address and add them to an email list. But we want them to confirm the subscription before we add them

trevorwood, did you make any headway with this? I have the same requirement. I can do a single opt in using a public profile, but that obviously has it's shortcomings.
