Civicrm and Joomla 1.7 SEF - Menu assignment and Breadcrumbs

Anyone know the best way to formulate the CiviCRM urls so they are assigned to the correct menu items?

In my case, I am using the built in Joomla Sef of 1.7, and have main menu items and sub menu items for each - I am also making use of breadcrumbs.  When you select a menu item, the 'Home' menu is still highlighted as active and breadcrumbs doesn't change - just says 'You are here: Home'.

Are you using the Joomla Menu Manager to create the CiviCRM menu items? A few more details on what you've tried might help.

Soory, been away for a while.  I am using the joomla menu system, but as there are no options to view a mapping of a particular group or organisations, all our menu links work with external urls.
