Customize profiles

Is there a way to customize profiles so you can have a phone field with a phone type dropdown for home/work/mobile? That way we wouldn't have to add all of those to the form?

Curently no, but would definitely make a great addition to profiles. If your org can contribute a patch for this and/or sponsor the development that would be great :)

Another alternative is to look at the webform_civicrm module which is amazingly awesome and takes the whole profile concept to an entirely new level

Hello ryeradio,

Have you tried creating a custom field and adding it to the profile?

Go to Administer-->Customize Data and Screens--> Custom fields-->New custom field set. Set Name= whatever you like, Used for = individual - any, Now save. On the next screen, field label = Phone Type, Data and Input Field Type = Alphanumeric - select.
Multiple Choice Options 1= Home Value= Home, 2= Mobile value= Mobile, 3= Work value= Work. scroll down, check Is this Field Searchable?, and save.

Now go to Administer-->Customize Data and Screens-->Profiles. Find the Profile you want to add "Phone Type" to, and select fields, then Add a Field. Field name= Individual, Field label= Phone type, Visibility= Public Pages or User/Admin (up to you), set the order so that it appears above or below Phone Number, check Active, and Save.

That should do it. Hope this helps!
