Making a profile view form public
January 28, 2012, 05:14:57 pm
Hi all,

I am creating a website for a local theatre club and we would like to have the names of select committee members visible on the site as public contacts.  I have created an appropriate contact group in civi and added the contact.  I have also created a search profile to display those contact's names and phone numbers.  In Joomla, I have created a new 'profile view' menu item to publish the profile.

The profile works like a charm when a user is logged in from the front-end however, when an anonymous user attempts to view the profile, we get the error in the screenshot attached.

What am I missing here?  Is there a specific set of ACL's that I need to make public or is what I'm wanting simply not possible?

Joomla 1.7.x
CiviCRM 4.0.8

Cheers for any advice.

No, I have not figured it out yet.  We were more concerned with getting the site live so I have fallen back to the built-in Jommla contact module for now.  I don intend to figure out what is wrong, just need some time to look into it more :)  I'll post here once I get it working.

Hi Thomas,

Thanks for your tip, it seems to have worked for me on J2.5.

FYI, for those using joomla 1.6+ the variable to edit in config.php is

var $live_site = ' ';

Many thanks.

Drat!  Worked to begin with but then broke.  Not sure what changed.  The listing still works flawlessly when a user is logged in front-end but not as a guest.  I'm guessing its a setting with my search profile but I cant figure out what.  All the fields on the profile are set to have visibility of 'public pages' and the 'profile' box is checked in the 'used for' section in the profile settings.  Not sure what else I'm missing.  Unless its an ACL of some kind...

Nay help is much appreciated.
