Links in Newsletter Mailing Not Working
January 30, 2012, 02:58:50 am
Hi all,
We have just completed a migration of a site from one server to another.  As we're using the site we're discovering a few little configuration teething issues.  The latest one relates to the newsletters that are sent out.  We have sent out a test newsletter and discovered that while the newsletter looks ok if we click on any of the links in the newsletter we receive the following error:

Could not find valid configuration dir, best guess: /var/www/public_html/example.com/sites/example.com/modules/civicrm/../../sites

If this is a standalone installation (i.e. not a Drupal or Joomla module) and you'd like to re-initialize it, click here.

All links have the following make up: http://example.com/sites/example.com/modules/civicrm/extern/url.php?u=650&qid=30354

Note that I have replaced the live site with example.com in the above examples.

Can anyone offer any insight into why this might be happening?  We are only running a single site. I believe the configuration files are complete and therefore all paths are set as they should be.

Any assistance would be hugely appreciated.  I'm a relative newbie to CiviCRM but am getting up speed fairly quickly.

Cheers

Donald Lobo

try creating a settings_location.php file as described here:

http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC33/Upgrade+Drupal+Sites+to+3.3

(search for settings_ to find the section)

Hey Donald,
Tried that, doesn't seem to make any difference.   Aside from creating the file do I need to take any further steps in order for the file to be detected?

I should have also clarified that everything else in CiviCRM is working perfectly.  No other component is reporting a path issue at all.

Any other ideas?

I take that back Donald! It did work!.... It was just that I'd placed the settings_location.php in the wrong spot.
All fixed now.  One very happy camper here!
