email field get's hidden in a profile

When someone makes a contribution they are asked to fill out their email address.

If a profile is included on that contribution page and it contains 'email' the field is hidden in the profile.  Which is good because you wouldn't want to have it duplicated.

However, instead of hiding the email field from the profile, it would be nice if the email field from the contribution page was hidden so that you could rearrange the the order of the fields on the page.  This would mean that email wouldn't always have to be at the top.

Does this sound like a good idea?

parvez from veda consulting is currently working on this and has promised to file a set of issues and patches to meet this. We've worked with him on the spec :)
