Automatic membership for every new contact

Hi! I'm new in CiviCRM.

Is any ability to automatic get membership for every new contact?

Thank you for quick answer.

Well, we have Internet shop.
New customer registers as Individual and I want he will automatic get membership "Discount card owner". It's free membership. Without end of data.
Later admin will manualy generate and enter Card number, do real plastic cards and send them for customers.
Is it real to configure in CiviCRM ?

You could have them fill in a free Membership form ie a Contribution page with Membership included that is $0
Otherwise some coding would be required.
But if 'everyone' is a member - and there is no end date, then I don't understand why the need a Membership - being in your database as a contact would be a sufficient characteristic by itself.

  • In the future I plan additionaly create Gold and VIP card. I think will be at least 3 different memberships.
  • Every member will have some statuses depends on its card process: registered only, card in process, card posted

You have good idea! I can realized this scheme  with contacts groups and tags. It may be more easy than membership, isn't it ?

i think most people use memberships for systems where there are start/end dates, renewals etc.
I think you may not need this and can just use Groups and then provide the 'special' status based on that. but don't really follow how people are 'joining' yet
