Copy membership priceset can cause priceset to disappear
February 02, 2012, 02:57:30 pm
Ok, this is not really a "help-me-out" post, as much as a reminder to myself what I did to get it work, and hopefully help someone in the process should they experience the same as I have...

What I did:
Created a membership signup page using a membership priceset with three fields, membership fee (mandatory), a rental fee (optional) and a purchase price for an item that our members can purchase (optional).
Yay, it worked well, and our members used it.

HOWEVER, when trying to create a new page for the next year/term, this problem arose:
I could not see the priceset on my freshly created signup/renew page!

A couple of pounds of hair to the floor later, I finally got round it (and I think I've actually did this once before, but who can remember from one time to another, and even google didn't help me this time... Thus, I try to help my future self in this post... :))
What I did when I first created this new site, was to copy everything and create a "new" copy of the old page through using a copied priceset and a copied contribution page, then edit it as it seemed fit.
Don't.

Create a fresh priceset if you need to create a new one, do NOT copy an old one. That simply won't work. Why I don't know, but it won't. At least not as it is today when I'm writing this.

So, create a fresh priceset doing it the tedious way, manually type in all values. Then create a new page. It may work to copy the page, but the priceset is just a no-no.

There you go. A long post for a simple yet tedious solution to a very annoying though minor problem.

Hopefully, this post helps more people than me. As I said, I couldn't find a solution to this on this forum or by google, so this is the best I can do to help out (not being a super-human coding genious, as so many others on this forum...).

From Northern Norway, I wish you all a peaceful night full of nice dreams instead of long wake-nights trying to get this to work ;)
(Now, I just hope that I will find this post in 6 months time when I have to do this over again, cause I know my 6-month memory just isn't working well...)
