Open Atrium as a discussion group and documentation solution
February 04, 2012, 12:53:58 am
Hi

My not for profit community group has Drupal 6.2 and CiviCRM 3.4.4.  - www.bethechange.org.au

We train facilitators to run symposium events and capture both faciltator and symposium participant information in CiviCRM. We also have a number of core teams who help administer everything (edit website content, import data in CiviCRM, manage bulk emails to various member groups (typically State/Region)

I am looking for an optimum solution for a wiki style space for adding adminisrative procedures, materials and how to documents as well as supporting group discussions for the various admin groups at both national and state/region levels.

I don't see any need at this stage for admin discussion groups to also be CiviCRM groups which I understand would be an advantage with Organic Groups

Open Atrium looks like a good option providing both documentation and group features but I don't know if it will be easy to implement or not compared to other options. I would like to see if anyone from the CiviCRM community has other suggestions, warnings or recommendations.

Thanks

Hershel

If you want this as part of your site, then Open Atrium won't help as it needs to be a separate install. You could, in theory, install Open Atrium and then add CiviCRM to it, but I don't think I would recommend that.

For wiki in Drupal see http://drupal.org/project/drupalwiki for ideas and also http://drupal.org/project/drupal_wiki
