anonymous member details updating to the members data if matches last_name
February 09, 2012, 04:00:08 am
Hello,

I am facing a major issue,
   - If an anonymous member register for an event, the first name, last_name, organization and e-mail id are mandatory in my case and address fields also provided to fill.
   - For an event if anonymous member registered with any matching registered member's last_name, then the details like First name, mail id organization and address fields are updated into the civiCRM as well as Joomla
   - If registered member already registered to the same event then it showing message like your already registered for anonymous member.

Due to this issue every time we are using the actual member's details, because anonymous event participant's data updated into our actual members data.

I have tried 3.3.3 and 3.4.8, both the versions I am facing the same results.

Please help me to fix this issue  :'(, if any one aware of the root cause or any idea!!.

Thanks in advance :).

I'm having a version of the same problem.  We registered a pre-existing contact for an event, and then we registered a second person, who lives in the same house and has the same address and phone number.  The first person then got updated to have the second person's name, so now we have duplicate registrations.  Civi appears to have merged the contacts based on their having the same e-mail address, but when I edited the second registrant to have a different e-mail address, it again updated the first registrant.

I can't find the setting to change this behavior.  Any pointers?

Civi's strict dedupe rule is based on the email address. Hence it happened as u described

u can change the dedupe rule to also check for other parameters before deciding if 2 contacts are the same
