Event or contribution
February 09, 2012, 11:31:32 am
Hello All I could use some help figuring out where to put this event. We are an organization that does a music festival. We need a page so people can sign up for camping at the festival. Should I create this as an event or a contribution? Or is there a better place for this? They can choose between different campsites such as electric, tent etc. They can also sign up as an individual or a group.

Sounds nice. I would do this as an event and use Event Price Set to offer the multitude of options. HTH

Thanks Petenz! How about gathering info such as camping type, total sites etc? How would I incorporate that?

So you need to create Custom Data fields - which I would suggest should be set up for Participants - and if you want to be more specific - set up an Event Type called Festival - and then set the Participant fields up for 'Events - Festival'.

Then you need to create a Profile and incorporate those fields along with any core fields like Name etc. HTH

Awesome, thanks! I didn't realize you could create a participant based on event type. This will work well since we have lots of different event types. Thank you for your help!
