SendGrid and suggestions on Mailer Settings
February 10, 2012, 05:16:34 am
We had issues with a mailing list of 7000 or so where numerous emails were marked On Hold/Bounced by CiviCRM. I have seen this before with other sending methods and typically just had to adjust the Mailer Settings (and un On-Hold tons of emails  :()
Any advice on what is the max we can use on Send Grid? I will ask there as well but figured someone here may have some thoughts. Also is it okay to use Mailer Job Size to increase the speeds of this process?
Thanks

sendgrid is wierd (IMO) in the case that when u exceed various limits, it basically erros on the smtp connection level

we've tried to patch this with 4.1 and if we get a string of 5 successive errors we abort and hope that the next run will fix the issue / limits that sendgrid has imposed

I just did a 1200 mailing via SendGrid SMTP.

We have 4.1 on drupal 6.

We have a 5 min cron and I set a Mailer Batch limit to 300.
And it went smooth.

What I saw was that it took almost 5 minutes to get to the next 300 emails being sent. We never got a cron batch overlapping the next.

Maybe that helps.
