Upgrading multisites to 4.1
February 11, 2012, 12:13:20 am
CiviDudes,

Thanks for all your work on 4.1! It's looking like an impressive release!

I just have a question about upgrading a multi-site installation to 4.1

I gather that CIVICRM_MULTISITE is now gone, and the multi-site settings are in the database.

The "Upgrade to 4.1" documentation for Drupal 7 doesn't cover multi-site upgrades

The "Multi Site Installation" documentation for 4.1 still refers to CIVICRM_MULTISITE so I guess it's out of date

The "CiviCRM for Drupal - Configure Multi-site Installations" documentation for 4.1 says it has been out-of-date since v2.x

I'm a bit confused as to the process for upgrading a multi-site. Does anyone have some pointers?

Thanks,

Ken

When I visit /civicrm/admin/setting/preferences/multisite?reset=1 there is a link on that page to http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC41/Multi+Site+Installation which suggests adding CIVICRM_MULTISITE to civicrm.settings.php

Is it correct to draw the following correlations between the old civicrm.settings.php and the new /civicrm/admin/setting/preferences/multisite?

CIVICRM_MULTISITEEnable Multi Site Configuration
CIVICRM_UNIQ_EMAIL_PER_SITEEnsure multi sites have a unique email per site
CIVICRM_DOMAIN_GROUP_IDParent list for this domain
CIVICRM_DOMAIN_ORG_ID?
CIVICRM_EVENT_PRICE_SET_DOMAIN_IDDomain for event price sets

And CIVICRM_DOMAIN_ID remains in civicrm.settings.php because it is site-specific, and all the other parameters are either global or can be keyed by Domain ID?

How is the functionality of CIVICRM_DOMAIN_ORG_ID now implemented?

Hi Ken - I'm just in the process of unravelling the new system (and hopefully updating the wiki docs in the process). I can't help with the upgrade question, but I believe CIVICRM_DOMAIN_ORG_ID is set by going to civicrm/group (Contact->Manage Groups), and then editing the setting for the relevant group (i.e., the one corresponding to CIVICRM_DOMAIN_GROUP_ID). There's an autocomplete form element to connect the org.

I started to update http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC41/Multi+Site+Installation now. Would be good to keep this page up to date, if anyone else can assist also.
