How do I integrate using Crystal Reports into CiviCRM?
February 13, 2012, 08:45:55 am
I would like to be able to use Crystal Reports in CiviCRM, but I am not finding a lot of info on it. I know how to create the report etc, but I am not sure how to link it up with CiviCRM. Anyone have any experience with this?

I would imagine you need to set the MySQL database as a datasource?

I can connect to Crystal Reports, I am just wondering after I create the report how do I show a report list in CiviCRM and have a user select and run a report that way.

There are several ways to do this, if you have a URL to the report I would just add the URL either to the Drupal menu or to the CiviCRM menu?

I asked my hosting provider to install Crystal Reports, but he said Crystal cannot be installed on LINUX. Is there a way around this at all? Can Crystal Reports be run on a different server at all and still hook up to CiviCRM data?

I would imagine so, but these are more Crystal Report forum questions then CiviCRM forum questions  ::) I think Crystal Reports can be linked to different types of data sources, and I think MySQL is one. I would imagine you could connect to another server.

If Crystal Reports can connect to a MySQL datasource remotely (which I'm fairly certain it does) then so long as your host allows remote MySQL connections, then you can do this.

Your host allows such, by the way. ;)
