[SOLVED] CiviCRM shows nothing in the back end - was working....
February 16, 2012, 04:22:42 am
Hi,

- J 1.7.3, Civi 4.0.7

To my knowledge nothing has changed in terms of machine config, apache config, php config. However users started reporting today that although they were able to log in to the back end when they went to Components > CiviCRM it displayed an emtpy screen (see attached). I have now also logged in as a super administrator and am experiencing the same behaviour.

I am not seeing any 404's or other errors in the apache and php logs.

I attach a full stack dump (You will have to append ST1..3 into a single file to see it all. Had to break it due to file size limitations) and am hopeful someone can help me out. If you require further debugging info just tell me what you want me to do and I will send you the output. Naturally I am DESPERATE to get this working again as the client is not happy. :-\

Any help and pointers greatly appreciated.

I am also seeing the attached error in the front end for URL's of the form:

http://www.<somehost>.com/index.php/component/civicrm/?task=civicrm/event/ical&reset=1&page=1&html=1&type=5&Itemid=274

When I open the URL: http://<MySiteURL>/administrator/index.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/admin/setting/updateConfigBackend&reset=1 then CiviCRM displays the form. I review the settings (which are correct) and then press SAVE and I am back to an empty the same empty screen as if I have just done Components > CiviCRM

Looks like a pathing issue as this appears in the logs when I click Components > CiviCRM

Code: [Select]
[Fri Feb 17 00:09:15 2012] [error] [client 124.171.109.205] PHP Warning:  Smarty error: unable to read resource: "CRMhttp://www.yearofthefarmer.com.au/commonhttp://www.yearofthefarmer.com.au/fatal.tpl" in /home/yearofthefarmer/public_html/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/packages/Smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1093

Appears that somehow the smarty templates got corrupted. By following the instructions on http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC40/Moving+an+Existing+Installation+to+a+New+Server+or+Location and then deleting
Code: [Select]
<joomla-root>/media/civicrm/templates_c/* the back end started working again ie showing content.
