Does END date run from JOIN date or START date 1.9 and 2.0
February 13, 2008, 06:44:06 pm
I assumed it ran from START date but several instances on our 1.9 and your 2.0 suggests otherwise - unless I am fouling up my rules.

In the sandbox I have set up Green with Party membership.

The Membership Type for Party is set as Rolling + 1 year

THe rules are

NEW = Start Event = JOIN // End Event = JOIN + 3 months
CURRENT = Start Event = START DATE // End Event = End Date
GRACE = Start Event = END DATE // End Event = END DATE + 12 months
EXPIRED = Start Event = END DATE + 12 months

When I look at contact = Pete Test for whom
JOIN = Feb 10, 2000
START = Feb 15, 2007

The END is coming up as Feb 09, 2001 - ie it is only relating to JOIN date and not to END date

And I note that if when I edit, I forget to unset the END date (which is showing as before the START date) it delivers an error message  "End date must be the same or later than Start date" - and yet when I then unset the date and hit save it again calculates the END DATE from the JOIN DATE and puts in an END DATE that precedes the START DATE.

I am having trouble working out if I am setting up my rules correctly because of this - am I the glitch.

Peter - This seems to be a bug (IMHO) :-( The expected behavior is that End Date should be calculated based on Start Date, NOT on Join Date. I've entered an issue here:
