CiviMail Tokens Not working correctly
May 16, 2007, 12:40:48 am
Not sure if i have things configured right.  I sent out a test message and the tokens resolved as:

{action.unsubscribe} = mailto:unsubscribe.DOMAIN.JOB.QUEUE.HASH@FIXME.ORG

{action.optOut} = mailto:optOut.DOMAIN.JOB.QUEUE.HASH@FIXME.ORG

{domain.address} = did not resolve

Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

The {action.unsubscribe} and {action.optOut} tokens are resolving right (the DOMAIN.JOB.QUEUE.HASH part is replaced by the actual ids in real mailings), except you didn’t set your domain properly in Administer CiviCRM → Edit Domain Information → Email Domain.

As for {domain.address} – did you set your domain information properly (in the same admin screen as above)?

Note: Not sure which PHP version you’re running; CiviMail requires PHP 5.

I have this exact issue, but I can't seem to get the Email Domain set right.  Does the email domain have to be the same as the actual server address?

The Email Domain is used for the Return-Path header, and must be set to something that your SMTP provider accepts.

I’m sorry, I mixed things up. Send Emails RETURN-PATH is used for the Return-Path header, and this is the one that must be set to something that your SMTP provider accepts.

The Email Domain, in turn, is the one that’s put in the CiviMail’s tokens. After setting it in my sandbox, I got the proper domain in the tokens (i.e., I got {action.optOut} replaced with optOut.DOMAIN.JOB.QUEUE.HASH@devielle after setting devielle as the domain).

This domain must point to a server that knows how to handle CiviMail-bound mail.
