Use of street_name, street_number and street_number_suffix
February 14, 2008, 12:52:24 am
Hi,

I saw the documentation of the Location Data Model and was happy to find fields for street_name, street_number and street_number_suffix. Is it possible to use these fields instead of street_address without difficult code changes for me as simple user? I would like to import data already using seperate fields for these data. It would make much more sense to use these fields instead of using "Addt'l Address 1" and "Addt'l Address 1" because I need to store such information too.

Thanks for any idea
G.Kurt

Keen to hear the answer to this. The situation exactly reflects on of our issues. By the way, where is the "Location Data Model' you refer to? I did a search on the Forum and Documentation but didn't spot it. Thanks.

You can find the 'Location Data Model' at the CiviCRM 2.0 description:

There is currently no support for these street address sub-fields other than the schema / DAO - and adding support in import / user interface  etc is non-trivial. We  put these in the DB early on based on feedback from folks with domain expertise in this area - but frankly haven't had folks step forward w/ use cases / offers to help make this "real". I wonder if the geocoding / mapping functionality has reduced the need for this granularity a bit ? or ....

In any case - if folks out there have the need and want to sponsor a project to expose these fields - let us know.
