Outbound email setting 4.1stable

On Joomla 1.7 the outbound email link from the admin menu is giving me a 500 error

option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/admin/setting/smtp&reset=1

Is this deprecated or is my install squiffy?

Outbound email settings fail to save - is this a legitimate fix?

Joomla 1.7/CiviCRM4.1 Stable
The code in "administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/CRM/Core/Form.php" line 344
is still causing configuration of outbound email settings to fail

So I have commented out as in the message above:

Is this a legitimate fix? It seems to have potential to knock on to other forms

This error was fixed for 4.1.0 stable release. What's your upgrade path?

I've just had the same bug with Civi 4.1.1 (and 4.1.0) on Joomla 2.5.2.

This was based on a site upgraded from J1.7.3 & Civi 4.0.5

The same fix worked tho.
