Subscription confirmation "You do not have permission to edit..." message
February 24, 2012, 06:36:46 am
Using double opt-in (for individual, not group), upon confirmation of the subscription, user is taken to home page that displays "You do not have permission to edit this contact record. Contact the site administrator if you need assistance."

The process otherwise functions as expected - new user is successfully added to the group.

I'm using a simple webform with Email, Zip Code and hidden group only.

I've attached screenshots of the permissions page - access CiviMail subscribe/unsubscribe is selected, as you can see.

Obviously, this is a very unfriendly message to get - I suppose I could get past this by granting permission to edit all contacts to Anonymous Users, but I don't think that's a good idea! I don't see what other permission I'd need to grant to anonymous users... eep.

Any guidance much appreciated... thank you!

Bumping this - the only way that confirmation completes successfully is to grant View all Contacts and Edit all Contacts to anonymous user, which I think is really bad.

In addition, I believe the fields have to be set to Public Pages visibility as well, which makes things even worse. In any event, that's what I had to do to make the subscription process for anonymous users complete successfully.

In any event, I think something's very wrong permission-wise with the confirmation process as it currently stands - any ideas here? Thanks much... yikes!
