Is there a way to setup a one-time fee for a membership type? For instance, when a person becomes a member, we want to tack on a $25 processing fee to the first years membership to cover administrative costs (reference checking, mailings, etc). This only needs to be done once. One way to do it would be to setup two memberships types (one for 1st year and one for other years) but that skews the reporting since there are now two different membership types yet they are the same.

i have searched the forum and cannot find anything like this.

I figured out a way to handle this. I created a hook using the xxx_civicrm_membershipTypeValues function. This allows me to intercept the membership types and modify the fee, description, etc.
