Does CiviCRM work with Joomla 2.5.x ?

Hi,

We work with the version 1.7.5 with success.
But the support of Joomla 1.7.x stop end february.

I'm trying to make sure I'm up to date to migrate, but not too far ahead. I waited to move to 2.5 from 1.5, so I haven't moved to civicrm 4.0 for joomla 1.6 or 1.7. Does this mean that as long as my civicrm is 3.3.6, I can upgrade to joomla 2.5, then upgrade civicrm to 4.0 and then go from there? I'm assuming so, and will begin testing. Look forward to opinions, though. ;)
