hi - on one of our oldest sites (started in 2.1 now on 3.4.7 and has been regularly upgraded) we are hitting a problem with the Email Greeting etc fields.

Instead of offering eg

Dear {contact.household_name}

it is showing

Dear {ldelim}contact.household_name{rdelim}

Can you suggest where we can start digging and why this might have gotten corrupted?

Pete - It looks like we use {ldelim} and {rdelim} syntax in some of our .tpl files (to escape the smarty open and close brackets I think). I'm a bit suspicious of the occurrences I found in the 3.0 alpha 1 upgrade incremental file, since it's the only use of that syntax in ANY upgrade. See lines 729-746 in CRM/Upgrade/Incremental/sql/3.0.alpha1.mysql.tpl - which is where the greeting and addressee options were inserted for sites upgrading from 2.x.
