Debian Linux Server Configuration - PHP 5.X with SOAP and DOM extensions
February 28, 2012, 01:37:53 pm
Hello Guys,

I'm building a Debian Linux Server as a beta test server for CiviCRM.  I want to be sure that my test environment supports the CiviMail componet.

The requirement is PHP 5.X with SOAP and DOM extensions and Postfix 2.2 (a mailer).

Where do I get PHP 5.X with SOAP and DOM extensions?

Hi,

PHP from debian out of the box should work fine.

out of curiosity, where did you find this requirements? I thought now civi requires php 5.3 (at least that's the version almost everyone has it seems)

Thank you X!  That's great to know -- I appreciate the info.

My question was specifically concerning the optional CiviMail component that requires PHP 5.X with SOAP and DOM extensions and Postfix 2.2.

I am following the requirement posted here -

wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC41/Joomla+Installation+Guide+for+CiviCRM+4.1  which states:

CiviCRM 4.1 requires Joomla 1.7.x / 2.5.x

Before beginning the install process, please verify that your server meets the requirements for CiviCRM 4.1.

  • Joomla  1.7.x : CiviCRM 4.1 is built to run under Joomla 1.7 and is not compatible with Joomla 1.0.x and Joomla 1.5.x sites.
PHP 5.2.1+ or 5.3.x : Starting with the 1.9 release, CiviCRM will NOT run on PHP 4 servers.\ (more info...).
MySQL 5.1.x or higher with INNODB support : CiviCRM is compatible the current generally available MySQL release. Note that MySQL 5.1 is recommended for new installations as CiviCRM is beginning to use Triggers more (eg to support multi-lingual installations), which require SUPER privileges in MySQL 5.0.
    PCRE with Unicode properties support
  • the optional CiviMail component requires PHP 5.X with SOAP and DOM extensions and Postfix 2.2

So, I'll be sure to use PHP 5.3.x moving forward.

thanks again

Mark
