database error
March 01, 2012, 08:59:57 am
I recently changed the password to my database after a site hack, and now the front end links to CiviEvent information pages result in DB_DataObject Error: DB Error: connect failed. I've change the db password in components/civicrm.settings.php and adminstrator/components/civicrm.settings.php. Is there someplace I've missed?

More precisely, those files are:

components/com_civicrm/civicrm.settings.php
administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm.settings.php

But those are the only two places, yes. I would just manually confirm that you have the password correct in both.

I've confirmed password is correct in both files. Could this be related to file permissions? The tmp/com_civicrm and media/civcrm files were set to 777, which I believe may have been the source of the hack, so I set them to 775. I'm loathe to reset them to 777, but will if I must.

Okay, it's not file permissions. This happens with all menu items that connect to civicrm entities. Please help... I am in urgent need of fixing this problem and getting these forms working again. :'(

Not sure what to say. If your error is DB Error: connect failed. then it seems your password is wrong. Perhaps change it again to double check ?
