Bug with Contribution Source Search
March 02, 2012, 11:00:59 am
Hi all,

It appears that searching on Contribution Source (in Advanced Search or Find Contributions in 3.4.8 AND on the drupal.demo.civicrm.org CiviCRM 38954 version) fails to return results that can be seen when performing a search on Contribution Source in Search Builder.

On your demo, search for "Penguins" in Find Contributions and you'll see it fails while "Online: Save the Penguins" is a valid Contribution Source for a contact named Reynolds, Pat.

For the time being I'm going to let my client know they can find their results through Search Builder, but shouldn't they be able to get results in Advance Search or Find Contributions??

Thanks,
Vanessa

Hi Vanessa - When searching on text fields other than Name and Email, you need to add the "wildcard" character (%) for partial matches.

EXAMPLE: Online% will find all contributions where the Source field starts with "Online"

EXAMPLE: %Penguins will find all contributions where the Source field ends with "Penguins"

You can also wildcard start and end of text (%Penguin%).

Ah ha!  ;D

Thanks, Dave! If I had of thought about it long enough I might have thought to apply this option -- which I'm familiar with in Search Builder -- to the Advanced and Find Contributions searches.

You're a prince!

Best,
Vanessa
