Importing Contributions : getting format error for total amount field

Hi all, total amount field is required for contribution imports but it keeps rejecting the values in the cell on the sheet to be imported, i.e., $30.00 - doesn't like it. Any idea what the format should be or where one can find this within civicrm/civicontrbute? Any help greatly appreciated!

guys i am using civi 4.0, can someone help...i'm sure it's something totally simply but still cant figure out what "format" the total amounts need to be ...any help much appreciated ;D

Can you try importing with just "30.00" instead of "$30.00"

hmm...that seemed to work! thought i had tried it but maybe there was some sort of excel formatting error. okay, thanks Kurund, really appreciate it!
