MySQL requirements for Wordpress install
March 02, 2012, 05:31:52 pm
I would like to install Civicrm on two sites that are running WordPress. Unfortunately the hosting services of these sites only have MySQL version 5.091 on shared servers and they are not able to upgrade just for my needs.
The installation instructions for Civicrm 4.1 requires MySQL 5.1 or above.

Is it still possible to install Civicrm on WordPress with only this version of MySQL, even if it means losing some functionality?

Apparently my question was not deemed relevant enough to merit any response on this forum.

As the technical requirements for newer versions of Civicrm increase, I would recommend to people upgrading or installing new versions to check with their hosting providers as some of the more popular ones do not offer the necessary software to run Civicrm.

A good place to start is here: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=9588 - though as the information on this page may not be current, you should probably contact the providers directly to see if they indeed meet the technical requirements for Civicrm.

That's not correct. You posted Friday after 5 PM (according to the time recorded by this forum) and many people who volunteer to answer questions here don't necessarily visit this site Friday night or Saturday.

The technical requirements for CiviCRM are listed here http://civicrm.org/aboutcivicrm and contain:

Quote
MySQL 5.1.x+ with InnoDB support

There have been issues with trying to use MySQL 5.0.
