Blank Page returned when Confirming Contribution

I am configuring the CiviCRM for the first time and everything for the most part seems to be working well. I am however having trouble with my first CiviContribute Contribution Page. When someone enters in an amount and their contact info and then press the confirm contribution button nothing but a blank page is displayed. The URL that is shown in the Address bar is

http://www.ne.nfb.org/civicrm/contribute/transact

I assume that there should be some variables being passed at the end of this URL but I am not seeing any.

I have tried setting up my Contribute page with just the "Other Amount option" as well as with just 3 or 4 preset dinomination options. Both configs produced the same result.

I am not sure but this might be a similar issue to what WJM has reported in the following post:

I am running Drupal 6.22 and CiviCRM 3.4

I am using PayPal Website Payments Standard as my Payment Processor but I have also tried the Dummy Processor with the same result.

Is this corrected in CiviCRM 4.1?

Any thoughts or ideas would be great.

Tonight I tried to narrow down if the problem lies with CiviContribute (or the way I have it configured) or if it it is with my payment processor. I setup an event in CiviEvent and used the same payment processor and that worked properly. So the problem must be in my configuration of CiviContribute somewhere.

Just had the same problem in one of my sites.  Happened to be due to conflict with a plugin (Feedgator Pseudo-cron plugin).

Does this happen when you have caching turned off?

Replicating the problem.  When the blank Screen shows up... clear the cache, then resubmit the data by refreshing the browser.  See if the submit then goes through successfully.

Thanks for the reply

I went ahead and disabled all non-core or CiviCRM modules and unistalled them from the database. I then tried to submit a contribution again with the same result.

Any other thoughts would be appreciated. I will try most anything.

This shouldn't be happening (even in 3.4).  The total white page leads me to believe that there is some sort of PHP error.  Can you turn on php logging and test again?  Also, any errors in the server error log when this happens?

Curious.... Why are you not running the latest version of Civicrm?

When I downloaded CiviCRM in early Feb I think 3.4 was the current release for Drupal 6 (I am running Drupal 6.22). CiviCRM 4.0 or 4.1 was available for Drupal 7 but not Drupal 6.

I checked the Drupal log and there is not much there. I have also tried turning off Clean URLs and with the same results.

Nothing is showing up in the apache log and at this time I don't have access to the PHP log. I am working with my ISP to get access to it.

Assuming that you're running apache, you can turn on php error logging in the htaccess file.

Also, according to this, Civicrm runs on Drupal 6: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC41/Drupal+Installation+Guide+for+CiviCRM+4.1+-+Drupal+6

I know CiviCRM 4.1 is available now for Drupal 6, but it wasn't when I downloaded it originally at the beginning of February (or late January).

I will try to redirect the PHP error log via the .htaccess file.

OK.  Here's info on php error log if you need it:  http://perishablepress.com/press/2008/01/14/advanced-php-error-handling-via-htaccess/

The upgrade to 4.1 isn't bad.  Just install and run the database update.

Doesn't look like you are currently using it in production, right?  If so, you can just start from scratch... delete civicrm and all of it's tables (if the uninstall does not do that) then install 4.1.1

Working on the .htaccess file now. If the PHP error log doesn't reveil anything I will do a inplace upgrade. Yes I am not in production but I have done a lot of configuration that I don't want to have to redo.

OK.

What I meant was that it didn't look like you were currently using any civicrm functionality in production... (although you may have in the past)

I made the modifications indicated in the link you included in your post. The changes were reflected when I ran PHP Info however a PHP log is not being created in the location I specified.

Can't do the upgrade because the civicrm.settings.php was created by the webserver durring install instead of by me so it has the wrong owner and group. Since it has the wrong owner and group I can't edit it as needed for the upgrae to 4.1. I guess I will try to contact my ISP tomorrow.

That's frustrating.  My host has a button on the control panel that will fix all ownership issues.
