Participant location on the map

Say you are organizing a garage sale event in a village.
It would be very interesting to show the location of participating contacts on the google map instead of a fix location.

And there could be other events where the location of participating contacts could be something that could convince other candidate participants to join in.

I would like that option.
What do you think?

not wanting to push anybody in any way, I did some digging myself and came accross http://code.google.com/apis/maps/articles/phpsqlajax.html
it does appear to be possible with some version of the google map API to have multiple markers onto one map.

hope it is of any use to anybody out there willing to look into this ;-)

thanks again. Just a pitty I'm no better coder myself :(

This is basically what I've implemented for our neighborhood website (I can't seem to post an external link)
stjameswood.com/index.php?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/profile/map&map=1&gid=13&reset=1

You can find details for mapping a profile here:
wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC41/Linking+Profiles

I have not published this map (yet) as I'm hoping to learn how to control the fields that are displayed.  While the information is all public, it would be preferred to remove the participant name.
