How to create list of two fields from contact info
February 15, 2008, 08:57:41 am
I have contacts with three different membership types (call them A, B, and C), assigned to three different smart groups based on membership type.  Each contact has a custom field called Employer (since there is a bug that keeps the value in Current Employer to show up in listings).  I need to create a listing that contains all of the employers and the state they are in (the state value for each Individual contact, since the address used is their work address) for those with membership types A and B.  How do I do that?  Do I just create a profile that has those two fields?  I tried that, and the problem is that it also includes the name of the contact by default, which isn't what I want.

Thanks.

The standard layout for profile listings always includes contact sort name. However, you can create a custom version of the profile listings template FOR THIS SPECIFIC profile (gid=x) by following these procedures:

... and eliminate that column in your custom version.

Ok, but how do I limit it to Employer fields for two certain groups?  I can create a custom search, but it will return a whole bunch of fields.  Taking the profile route, I can only limit it to one group, not two groups.  Is there a happy medium?  For instance, do I need to create a custom template for  the search results that only has the two columns I need?

Thanks.

Not sure if this will work - but you could try creating a 3rd smart group by "finding" members of Groups A and B.

Otherwise, I think you're looking at a completely custom page in the CMS driven by your own PHP using the search API ...
