Editing shared address front-end
March 06, 2012, 08:28:54 pm
Hi All,

I have two contacts with a relationship attached to them (spouse of).  I have given each the ability to edit each other's contact info.  However, contact B cannot edit their address on a front-end profile form despite having permission to do so.

For example, if I have a contact - Joe Bloggs, and I add a relationship of type 'spouse' to his wife - Jane Bloggs and set Joe's address to be shared with Jane, only Joe can edit his address details on the front end.  The address details for Jane appear when she is logged in but are greyed out.

Is this an issue with the way my profile is set up, or is it an issue with address sharing and permissions?  If the latter, should I file a bug report for it?

Cheers

I think with a shared address we only allow the "owner" of the shared address to edit the address record (to keep things simple and manageable)

This is more a feature request. If you / your org are willing to develop/sponsor improving this feature contact us on IRC and/or email

I just ran into this problem as well, working on a website for an organization.

It seems like a worthy improvement; and if it doesn't require a large investment, and if other groups are interested in working on this as well, we should join forces.

This particular site is using Civi 3.4.6 ; so if this has already been addressed, let me know. It appears that it still existed in 4.0.8 version.

Note that Webform Integration for CiviCRM allows you to do this.

Thanks Coleman.  One small issue - Webforms is Drupal-only.  I'm on a Joomla install.  I love what webforms can do, but its such a pity that it's only for Drupal.

Cheers
