Unable to set a relationship in 4.1.0
March 07, 2012, 02:03:58 am
We are now using 4.0.1 and have issues with relationships.  I can select Relationship Type but when I write a name in the Select Contact field (below Relationship Type) Civi does not pull up people who I know exist in the database.  The magnifying glass symbol whirs briefly but then stops, without giving me the contact.

On the Relationships screen it will allow me to create a new contact and set up a relationship, but I cannot currently create any relationships for existing contacts.  What might be causing this?

Thanks
Lindsey

Are you using 4.0.1 or 4.1.0 ? Can you try to replicate this on our demo's. ( http://demo.civicrm.org/ )

Sorry for the confusion - we're using 4.1.0  I will try to replicate but the demo for 4.1 seems to be down at the moment.

Should be working now.

I'm not able to replicate it on the demo... so it's our issue.  That being the case, do you have any hints at all as to why it might be happening Kurund?  As I mentioned before, it attempts to search for people but the whirring in the Select Contact box is very brief and does not list names as in the demo. However, I've now realised that if I press the search button, it does list people in a table below.  But when I tick a contact for the relationship and attempt to save I get an error message:

The website encountered an error while retrieving ......  It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly. HTTP Error 500 (Internal Server Error): An unexpected condition was encountered while the server was attempting to fulfil the request.

Kurund - I looked again at the relationship issue with our developer and further digging said that it was 'timing out in packages/IDS/Filter.php on line 124'

Does that give any clues as to how we might solve this problem?  Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Do you have any custom data on relationship form?  Also did you try deleting Config.IDS file.

Hi Kurund
I'm not aware of any custom data on relationships.  We've tried deleting the Config.IDS.ini file but it still seems to exhibit the same problem (i.e. timing out in packages/IDS/Filter.php). Do you have any further thoughts?

Many thanks, Lindsey
