I used to work for a nonprofit membership organization as its Member Services Coordinator, and one of my chief responsibilities was being in charge of its membership database. When I started, we were using a custom-made program that was a beautiful piece of work considering its programmer had never written a program before it--but it got pretty buggy when Apache, PHP and MySQL were updated and the organization opted to find a new system.

We ended up settling on Blackbaud's Raiser's Edge w/ Membership module. We discovered CiviCRM pretty much the same week it became too late to turn back on Blackbaud. Bummer 

At any rate, the organization's current IT guy wants CiviCRM so bad he can taste it, and I might be working with them again if a conversion is possible. Anyone have any experience with this? Can it be done?
