CiviCRM on frontpage
February 16, 2008, 10:50:21 pm
I have installed CiviCRM 1.9 on Joomla 1.0.13.
I would like to find out how I can have Civi show on my site once a user has logged onto the website. I cannot seem to show the component on the site. The only way to access CiviCRM is by logging on to the backend of Joomla. The problem is if another user logs on the first user gets logged of as I think you can only have 1 user in Joomlas admin pages.
Unless of course CiviCRM is designed to work through the backend only but then how do you setup users?

Please help, I am new to CiviCRM  ??? and to Joomla  ???

ok I think I'm getting closer.  ;D
I setup a user in Joomla and added him in CiviCRM. I have managed to put the CiviCRM component on homepage when user logs on but if you click on it it says:

No fields in this Profile have been configured as searchable. Ask the site administrator to check the Profile setup.

My question: how do I setup a user in CiviCRM to be an admin user allowing them to do everything?

1. in joomla most of civicrm functionality is exposed via the joomla backend to the admin user only. The admin user is a joomla thing and not civicrm

2. you should check the wiki for help regarding profiles and the frontend, here are some links

http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Configuring+Front-end+Profile+Listings+and+Forms+in+Joomla%21+Sites
http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC/Profiles+Admin

3. at least one of the profile fields you select needs to be searchable. I suspect this is a bogus restriction based on some earlier assumptions. We should eliminate this restriction at some stage :)
