Unsure of SMTP and how to find it.

Hello,

      I use Bluehost.com and it uses squirrelmail to send out emails.  How does mail with Civicrm work and how do I find the smtp address?  I just typed in smtp.bluehost.com but I don't know if that's wrong or right.  I tried to emailing myself but it gave me an error.  Help!!

This is kim again.  I have set the bluehost mail password in civicrm.settings.php  it still doesn't seem to work.  I'm guessing my smtp address is wrong and I don't know where to go to find the address for squirrelmail linked to bluehost.com.

your best bet is to send a support email to your hosting provider and get the name of your smtp host
