Searching for custom CiviEvent data
March 17, 2012, 02:48:08 pm
If I create custom data fields for a Event records, is there a place I can then search for those fields?

Thanks!!!

Not via the Civi UI (or at least i dont think so)

Might be able to do so via the views3 integration. Can u report back if that works

thanx

I would love to if I had the skills!

I think Civi is a super useful tool and would like to improve upon many of its functions. But, alas, I do not (yet) possess the needed knowledge / skills to do so.

It's not so hard really. You could try if you want. First is to install Views for Drupal from here: http://drupal.org/project/views

and second is to follow these steps for integration: http://wiki.civicrm.org/confluence/display/CRMDOC41/Views3+Integration
CiviHosting and CiviOnline -- The CiviCRM hosting experts, since 2007

See here for the official: What to do if you think you've found a bug.

In addition to coding and adding/fixing features, there are lots of other ways to contribute back:

You should also be able to use CiviReports for this - check your report menu. If custom fields aren't showing then it's really trivial to make them show if you have access to the code

Yes, they can be seen in a report.

The thing is, we need clients/users to be able to search under certain event custom data... this is not possible with the reports or through the back end code.

So, you can't filter by custom data on your events report?

No, it doesn't seem like you can.

It looks like the way to do it is to export the data into a spreadsheet...
