Cannot get cron job to process mail (Joomla installation)
March 19, 2012, 02:01:02 am
Running cron with the following format using my site's details:

curl "http://mysite.example.com/administrator/components/com_civicrm/civicrm/bin/cron.php?job=process_mailing&name=username&pass=password&key=sitekey"

These details are confirmed to be correct.

This is a Joomla 1.7, CiviCRM 4.1 site.

When the job run's, cron sends me this email:

% Total    % Received % Xferd  Average Speed   Time    Time     Time  Current
Dload  Upload   Total   Spent    Left  Speed

I have masked the name, password and key but they are correct, or I don't think I would have gotten this far.

What does this mean?

Cannot get cron job to process mail (Joomla installation)
March 19, 2012, 05:40:50 pm
I have submitted this and another request for assistance about the inability to get the mail queue processed using a cron job. CiviSMTP was not able to help and suggested that I start debugging the code. If anyone has any clue about where the problem might lie, I might give it a go but I am not a developer.

This site is not under version control yet. Would I be able just download the updated file from somewhere?

Thank you

Hi,

You can apply the patch even if not using svn (patch command), or download and replace with this file http://svn.civicrm.org/civicrm/branches/v4.1/CRM/Admin/Page/JobLog.php

Oh! Many thanks. I thought patch was part of svn.

Got same error:

I've modified this reply. I originally thought the name, pass and key were stripped.

I am completely stuck here. I cannot get the cli.php script to work either (I have submitted a bug report in Jira, which is being worked on).

All the methods of setting up cron to process scheduled mails with CiviCRM 4.1 and Joomla 1.7 have failed and I have not found a workaround.

We applied the cronjob patch last night and I've confirmed that cron.php is firing off as needed, however none of the scheduled jobs are being triggered. They are set to go whenever cron is run. I'm assuming this means cron.php as I have it set up with wget??

Also version 4.1.1 on Joomla 1.7

Which patch did you apply? The latest patch I applied did not really change anything. I got the 302 "The document has moved" message.

This is a critical situation. My client is thinking of scrapping CiviMail altogether.

Well, turns out we didn't have all the patches in place, but here is what we have applied and the Civi front-end scheduled jobs are not firing off as they should using cron.php as the trigger. I'm going to try setting the jobs to fire off every half hour and see what that does.

As an update, setting the Scheduled Jobs to run hourly did not change anything. Cron runs, but Activity, Mailing, and Bounce Processing do not.

Xavier,

So far, nobody has replied to my comments and there have been no working fixes. What is the status of this? Has there been any testing of a version that actually works?

This issue is still open. We hope to have this fixed for at least Joomla! 2.5 before we release 4.1.2

What about the cli.php script. Can that be fixed for Joomla 1.7?
