Fees- Price Sets Not working
March 20, 2012, 02:35:40 pm

1) Using the Joomla CiviCRM demo, I setup Event 7 a PTA Fun Fair.
When I test drive or go for live registration boxes where I would select the quantity of the items in my price set do not appear.
That can't be right.

2) My intention in running this test was to confirm whether I could repeat a problem I have on my site where despite setting a maximum quantity for a price set item to 10, I get a message saying 'Sorry, currently only a single seat is available for this option'

See attachment.  Only first event fee item in attachment is wrong.  The rest of the fee items display the correct message.

I'd like to fix the first problem on the demo so I can check whether I can replicate the second problem in the demo.

You have specified the max participant for each price set field and you are trying to enter more that that number hence you are not allowed to register.

For eg: check http://joomla.demo.civicrm.org/administrator/?option=com_civicrm&task=civicrm/admin/price/field&action=update&reset=1&sid=1&fid=2 here you have specified "Max Participants" : 3 and you are entering 6

Thanks for the prompt reply regarding point #2.  I was not clear in explaining the problem.

In the attachment on the original post the row for the first line PTA Members the max is set to 10.
The message is "Sorry, currently only a single seat is available."
The message should have been "Sorry, currently only 10 seats are available for this option"

I deleted and re-added the option and the right message appeared.  Then a second option behaved as above in giving the single seat message when the max was more than a single seat.
I also deleted and re-added that option and the right message appeared.
My concern is that the logic on what number of seats should be put in the "Sorry,..." message is suspect.

I will continue testing this to see if the problem re-appears.

When you specify "n" number in "Max Participant" for field, it means only "n" times that field can be used. Typical use case would be when you want to allow registration with "n" number of dinner table for an event.

I agree with you.  When i set it to 10 and put in 11 shouldn't it say sorry only 10 can be selected?
That it says only one can be selected is what was odd for me.

Check http://drupal.demo.civicrm.org/civicrm/event/register?reset=1&action=preview&id=1 and enter 11, it says
"Sorry, currently only 10 seats are available for this option."

which is correct behavior.

Fair enough,  I tried it in my environment and attached the screen print that showed max participants 10 was giving a message of only one participant could join.
I went to the joomla demo and created an similar event.  I couldn't replicate the problem in the joomla demo env. because the boxes where one would put the quantity in when I was in test drive mode didn't come up.

I just checked the jooomla demo environment and the event I set up is gone. I assume some sort of data refresh must take place that knocked it out.

I deleted the price from the price set I was using in my env. and added it back.  It then functioned normally.
I had similar behavior from another price in my price set, deleted it, readded it, and it worked as well.
In the event I am planning, we have decided to forgo using max participants on the price fields.

Should I see anything similar in other events we plan I will let the forum know.

Regards
