advice on payment processors
February 18, 2008, 06:48:14 am
Hi there,

We have no payment processor currently but are looking at getting one. We are in New Zealand. Does anyone have any recommendations as to which we should choose. The most common payment processor over here seems to be Worldpay which is not listed and I guess it would be easiest to use one that is.

Hi Eileen - nice to hear there are some other NZ civi users. We could probably usefully share experiences on this aspect of Civi. Try peter dot davis at fuzion dot co dot nz - we haven't gotten far down the financial side yet but will be shortly

Just a note from my last post.

I have found out that paypal standard does support NZ (3.4% + 45c per transaction is not a great price though)

Google Checkout only does UK & US right now:

I think moneris is only Canada

I'm surprised that u had so many issues with the sandbox. The sandbox is one of the good features of paypal IMO :) kinda allows you to go thru a very similar flow as the real one but with a sandbox url. The other systems have the "sandboxing" feature crafted in as an afterthought (or so it seems)

in the short term, paypal is probably cheaper than building a payment processor. You might want to get details as to how much worldpay charges etc

The sandbox problems were flakiness (3004 errors) and it not accepting the test credit card number. A quick talk to uncle google told me I was not alone!
