Migrate data from 4.0.8 to 4.1.1 for Joomla 2.5
March 25, 2012, 12:58:12 pm
Hi, I created a new Joomla website, using latest 2.5.3 version and CiviCRM 4.1.1. I need to migrate the civicrm data from another site/server to the new site. The old civicrm uses 4.0.8 and Joomla 1.7.3. How can I migrate just the data to have a copy of the users and contributions by those users?

You have two options:

1. Transfer your entire old database into the new one (first removing the new one) and then run the upgrader. See Moving an Existing Installation to a New Server or Location

2. Export your data from the old site as CSV files and then import it into the new one.

Hi, I could not find an option to export all the data from the old site then import onto the new one. I needed to import all the contacts, campaigns, configuration, etc... I did it manually, via the database itself and sql queries. It took me a couple of hours but I was able to migrate without errors. Thanks for your help.

Hi There,

I realize this thread is old but could you give details on how you migrated using the sql method you mentioned? Which tables did you exclude? Just the '_cache' and civicrm_domain tables or were there more? Any ideas on the sql queries to replace or merge the tables?

Thanks
