We're swapping the Joomla version of CiviCRM to WorPress but having an issue in getting the contacts to sort alphabetically. While I can click the individual letters to show names beginning with that letter, that's where it ends - really the names are just all jumbled up.

The Joomla version is 1.6.6 with CiviCRM 4.0.5 [both outdated and rather than updating I'd prefer to just move to WordPress]. The WordPress version we're using is 3.3.1 with CiviCRM 4.1.0.

Could it be the versions that are causing the issue? I've exported and imported  the contacts via the CiviCRM functions and didn't hit any snags, the names just seem to be listed in a random order.

Any advice on how to fix this?

When I login at the WordPress demo site and attempt a search of all contacts, it tells me "You do not have permission to execute this url."?
